Are you a DIY kind of person? Do you have PG&E bills that are less than $200/month? Do you have an EV or are planning on getting one? These DIY solar kits might be just what you have been looking for.
These are pretty much plug and play.
I'm a solar guy who's been in the business for over 10 years on the Central Coast.
The new PG&E terms (NEM3) have forced us to think outside the box.
After doing a ton of research, I've assembled easy DIY solar kits.
The heart of the system is the Hysolis Apollo 5kW solar generator.
It's capable of outputting 3,000 watts continuous with a surge of 5,000 watts.
It has a built in 5kWh LiFePO4 battery.
You can input up to 4,400 watts of solar panels at voltages from 120V to 500V.
Just plug the Hysolis Apollo 5K into a generator plug on a 120V critical loads panel to backup things like lights, the refrigerator, TV, internet etc.
The 5kW hour battery can easily run those for a few hours.
The Hysolis Apollo 5K can also be used as a solar EV charger.
Use the 25 amp generator outlet to charge your EV at 24 amps! That's double the 12 amp output from a 110V outlet.
The solar panels can easily be ground mounted using Powerfield Power Rack buckets.
Simply fill the buckets with sand or gravel and clip the solar panels in place.
While everything here is pretty much plug and play, the kit price includes labor cost of having a certified electrician do all of the electrical connections, as well as my assistance throughout the process.
Here is a video review I did of the Hysolis Apollo 5K Generator:
