What does a School Age Childcare Associate Teacher do? The School Age Child Care Associate Teacher assists the Site Supervisor in the planning, organization and implementation of a quality After- and Before-School children’s program for the YMCA and directly supervises children between the ages of 5-12 years in accordance with the Mission Statement of the Channel Islands YMCA.
Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs in accordance with guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing Supervises up to 14 children independently under the guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing Provides quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive) Provide a safe environment for all children to thrive Guide behaviors using positive methods, keeping in mind each child’s individual needs Carry out activities and lesson plans Ensure the program is delivering Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards Set up and clean-up of the program area including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash removal, etc Provides exceptional customer service and fosters connections with children and families Participating and satisfactory completion of in-service trainings Create an environment that is welcoming, nurturing, and inclusive for all children and families Able to work collaboratively and respectfully as part of a staff team Ensure building, grounds, and equipment are in working order.
Report any concerns Maintain certifications and take advantage of professional growth opportunities Support the annual campaign process including education of members Understand your role as a mandated reporter of elder and child abuse.
Report and respond to situations in accordance with policies and procedures Carries out all responsibilities in a honest, ethical, and professional manner Implements YMCA core values and supports strategic initiatives Know the chain of command and report concerns in proper order All other duties as assigned Must be at least 18 years old High School Diploma or equivalent 6 units in Child Development or a related field; and continuous enrollment in a minimum of 2 units per semester toward completion of 12 units required Complete required certifications within 30 days of hire Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance Health Screening Report and negative TB test required prior to first day of employment
