*THE FAMILY | *This sweet and loving family of three is seeking a new nanny/family assistant to join their team.
It’s a mom, her son, and their dog.
The boy splits his time between his mom and dad’s house.
Therefore, the schedule will be rotational, with one light and one heavy week.
The mom works in DTLA and is required to report to the office.
This family is hoping for someone with the flexibility to work their schedule and can proactively help with various household tasks, including child, pet, and household care.
*THE BOY | *He is nine years old.
He has high-functioning autism.
He is described as sweet and good-natured.
He loves arts and crafts and enjoys pretend play.
He loves engagement and is curious about the world around him.
He has no history of violence.
He does like to yell, but he is working on that with his school and therapist.
He attends therapies and schools that acknowledge who he is and helps him navigate the world.
They work on behavioral issues as well.
When he’s at home with the new hire, his mom hopes he can find a playmate more than an ABA therapist.
She wants him to enjoy the downtime, as he is constantly with a therapist or shadows all day.
He attends school or therapy most days from 7:30/8 AM until 4/5:30 PM (times can vary depending on the time of year or the day) *THE JOB DETAILS | *Be a playful yet responsible and consistent playmate for the boy when he is home by providing age-appropriate activities, engagement, and stimulation.
Follow the lead of his mom, shadows, and therapists on best practices and methods to engage him and help him navigate his challenging moments.
School and therapy drop- offs and pick-ups are required.
Support with the day-to-day routines.
Go on outings.
The nanny/family assistant is expected to help with the tasks below when he's in school to offer extra hours to the candidate, especially as the childcare hours are minimal.
Grocery shopping Meal planning and prep Dog care - walking, pick up/drop off at doggy camp, grooming, feeding, cleaning up after in the backyard Cleaning, laundry, sheets, dishes (Day-to-day stuff.
They have a bi-weekly cleaning crew) Every other Monday, clean the mom’s office.
Errands for the family/household, like dry cleaning and pet store Prepare arts and crafts activities for the boy; he loves pretend play from Bluey, and some of it requires actual prep like making props Research and help plan fun weekend activities with the boy Research and help plan family vacations Plant care, weekly.
*THE IDEAL CANDIDATE | *Loves helping families.
Has knowledge and/or a background working with autistic children but does not have to be ABA therapy or training.
Patience.
Flexible and able to commit to this rotating schedule on a long-term basis, a minimum of one year, ideally longer.
Reliable, patient, consistent, and communicative.
Active and energetic.
Has the energy to keep up with a nine-year-old boy and a calm demeanor.
Has the ability to establish boundaries in a loving and thoughtful manner and be consistent with them.
Someone who enjoys partnering with a mom.
Understands how to support the whole family and their home.
Takes the initiative to find items to help with inside the home.
Strong work ethic.
Proactive.
Team player.
Respect professional/personal boundaries.
Strong command of English, written and verbal.
Dog friendly.
*THE REQUIREMENTS | *A minimum of five years of professional nanny experience.
Previous educator experience is a perk.
Someone who has worked with or has an interest in working with special needs children would be ideal.
Vaccinations: someone who follows science and gets annual vaccinations.
Able and willing to work every other weekend and commit to the weekday schedule.
The nanny needs their own reliable means of transportation to and from work.
The nanny may be provided a vehicle for on-the-job driving when driving the boy and dog.
Clear background and driving record.
Stellar references from previous employers.
*THE QUALIFICATIONS | *A minimum of five years of childcare experience working with preteen boys, special needs, or as a family assistant.
Previous professional nanny experience.
CPR/First Aid Certification in Pediatrics and Adults.
*THE SCHEDULE | *This schedule is rotational Weekly… the following days are consistent Wednesday 2:30 PM to 7:30 PM Thursday 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM + 2:30 to 7:30 PM (afternoon hours only if the candidate needs a few extra hours) Friday 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM Every other week, these days will rotate.
Monday 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM Saturday and/or Sunday: flexible, TBD, 5 to 10 available hours on the weekends.
*THE RATE | *$35 to $38 per hour.
Guaranteed hours (15 to 20), PTO and mileage reimbursement.
